This page explains the privacy and consent arrangements that apply when Australian Finance Group Ltd, your credit representative and related parties collect, use or disclose personal, financial and credit information in connection with arranging finance and providing credit assistance.

What you are consenting to

I/We consent to you using Personal Information, financial information and Credit Information about me/us for the purpose of:

  • Arranging or providing credit
  • Providing credit assistance
  • Insuring credit
  • Direct marketing of products and services offered by you or any affiliated organisation

These organisations may contact me/us, including by telephone and electronically. I/We acknowledge that you may receive a fee or commission for referring me/us to a product or service provider, such as an insurance provider.

Key definitions

Who “you” means and what information is covered

“You”

Australian Finance Group Ltd (AFG), each subsidiary of AFG, the Appointed Credit Service Provider and their organisation, and any assignees or transferees of the commissions related to any credit provided to me/us.

“Personal Information”

Includes any sensitive information, including health information, and any details I/we provide about any vulnerability.

The Personal Information provided by me/us will be held by you. I/We can obtain a copy of AFG’s Privacy Policy at www.afgonline.com.au . The policy includes details on how to access or correct my information, how it is managed, and how to make a complaint.

If I/we do not provide the requested Personal Information, you may be unable to assist in arranging finance or providing services.

Credit information

How Credit Information may be obtained and shared

I/We authorise you to receive Credit Information from any lender and provide relevant parties, such as a real estate agent, lawyer or conveyancer, with information about whether finance has been approved, including the terms and approval letter.

I/We appoint you as our agent to obtain Credit Information, including consumer and commercial credit eligibility information, from credit reporting bodies, to assist with providing services including credit assistance.

Credit Information

Includes identity information, credit type and terms, repayment history, defaults, court data, financial hardship, insolvency, fraud and credit infringements.

Credit Eligibility Information

Refers to reporting information received from credit bodies and anything derived from it.

How information is delivered and collected

Electronic documents and conference recordings

I/We consent to receiving credit assistance and loan documentation electronically.

  • Electronic communications must be checked regularly

Video or audio conference recording

I/We consent to you collecting Personal Information, financial information and Credit Information via video or audio conference, and consent to those recordings being shared with relevant parties, such as credit providers, insurers and government agencies, as needed.

Your consent continues until withdrawn in writing.
